Lecture Series on Mythology by Richard Koepsel Richard Koepsel has been a student of The Rosicrucian Fellowship for just about 50 years (August 1963). His view of it all is "Freely have ye received, now freely give". THE ORPHIC EGG.
From Bryant's An Analysis of Ancient Mythology. The ancient symbol of the Orphic Mysteries was the serpent-entwined egg, which signified Cosmos as encircled by the fiery Creative Spirit. The egg also represents the soul of the philosopher; the serpent, the Mysteries. At the time of initiation the shell is broke. and man emerges from the embryonic state of physical existence
Creation Myths Everything in concrete existence—every thought, every emotion, every action, every physical object—has an idea behind it. Ideas are abstract. We can draw and see a circle but that circle will always be imperfect. The perfect circle, the circle of circles, is abstract and invisible. We have various means to represent and understand ideas. A mythical story may represent an idea, and an idea that is a principle can be can be understood through a formula. There is an idea behind the entire creation. Since that idea is foundational, it is behind everything in the creation. Everything. Therefore, any time something is born within the creation, it is a variant of the original creative idea. This is true if we are creating a new recipe or performing the procreative act. These talks on creation myths are an attempt to try to understand the idea behind the creation so we can apply that idea in our lives and thereby live harmoniously with the creation. Since these are early talks, the thought is young and neither deep nor thorough. Other attempts at the idea are found in various places in these talks on mythology, and most of them are more mature.
